He will still get deported. And people who get married to save the other from deportation should have there social security card shredded.

I am going thru a similar situation. You can marry him and start the process of getting him a green card.. but he will have to go back to his country. It might be 1-10 years depending if you can prove that your marriage cannot survive in his country. If you can convince immigration that he NEEDS to be here with you, they will shorten his time in his country for 1-2 years. If not he will be deported for about 10 years.

Don’t listen to all of the nasty comments people leave for you that say he should be deported for being here. They don’t know what they are talking about. Good Luck!!!

There should only be one reason why you should get married and thats for love. As for your boyfriend it will probably be easier to apply since he came here with a Visa as opposed to coming here legaly. Call or go online explain your situation, you dont have to give any names.

He should have taken care of his immigration status long time ago. now, marriage is not the easy ticket to stay in the US anymore!

US immigration realized that more and more people enter marriage just to get into the US, now they made it very strict and very expensive to stay here especially for the ones who broke the law!I am glad that the US immigration is becoming
more conscious about it.

You marrying him won’t save him at all! He deserve to be deported, I’m not being mean but he should have thought about his status long time ago…. I don’t have any sympathy for people who are staying illegally in the US! I had a friend who married this guy to save his ass but he left her after getting his green card.. what an asshole!

yes, marriage will safe him from deportation if you are american citizen..but you have to prove your past relationship with him like….pictures..details about his life..( his birthday …etc) to prove it is not a fraud marriage but u need to ask good immigration lawyer.

Your grandparents are right. Marriage now would not be wise. It would appear fake. Had you been married 5 years ago, that would save him, but marriage now would just be something you would regret because it would be merely a rush job just to keep him here.

If you marry him you will have two problems instead of one.

Marrying him will do nothing to keep him in the USA. First, he has to deal with his visa situation which may prejudice him from entering the US for a while.

But, even if he ironed that out without problems getting married will only allow him to move to the head of the queue of people who want to enter the USA (another queue but much shorter). While that process was being debated he would have to be in his home country. In fact, to initiate the process he would have to do it at a US consulate in his home country.

If you accomplished all of that, you would have to be married for two years (I think it is still two, anyway) before Immigration would grant him permanent papers. Too many people have tried to circumvent the immigration laws by entering into phony marriages.

Getting married does very little. (THank God. The govt’ has taken action to close tighter that little loophole that was used/abused/taken advantage of by so many.)

I suggest you find yourself a boyfriend who is here legally and isn’t a criminal. Or leave with him while he applies for LEGAL entry.
