At one major homosexual march in West Hollywood, even black homosexuals were targeted by angry white homosexuals calling them “n*****s” because blacks overwhelmingly voted for Prop. 8 by a margin of 70 – 30 percent.

While protections in housing and employment are fair and reasonable, said Otterson, the Church remains unequivocally committed to defending the bedrock foundation of marriage between a man and a woman.

New York lawmakers have rejected a bill to legalize gay marriage.

The Senate decision Wednesday comes after months of delays and arm twisting of lawmakers sympathetic to the bill but representing conservative districts. It follows a referendum in Maine earlier this month that struck down a gay marriage law before it took effect.

maybe, or maybe this is a game for rich young boys to play.

Experimenting with lifestyles until one finds a lifestyle that is more about taking and less about giving. Adrianna Huffington comes to mind!

Maybe being liberal and culturally diverse helped make them so rich. :)

“The institution of marriage has been preserved in Maine and across the nation,” said Frank Schubert, the chief organizer for Stand for Marriage Maine, according to the Associated Press (AP).

once you get that financial backing, you usually can get whatever you want.

As shown in Washington state and California. Gay marriage is for the rich, supported by the rich, and upheld by the rich.

Sure, it’s spin, but the point is the trend lines. Twenty years ago, the measure would have passed with 70-80% support. Ten years ago, maybe 60%. Now, low 50s.

Once a gay rights issue has narrow majority support, it broadens within a matter of years to broad majority support. Just look at the 70% or more of Americans who support allowing gays to serve in the military. In that sense, any defeat of anti-gay forces is a sound defeat, because their numbers only dwindle, never rise.

The big win for most Christian observers, however, was Maine voters’ repeal of the state’s gay marriage law, which was passed by the Legislature in May and signed into law by Democratic Gov. John Baldacci.

With 87 percent of precincts reporting Wednesday morning, the marriage referendum had gained 53 percent of the vote, making Maine the 31st state to affirm traditional marriage at the voting booth. Every state that has put marriage to a popular vote has opposed gay marriage.

“A narrow victory of 52% or 53%”

yeah, I have noticed that about your types, whenever your types lose in a fair election it is a NARROW victory and whenever you win it is a sound defeat!

SPIN!

No, marriage was weakened and families were hurt in Maine.

But it won’t last forever. :) A narrow victory of 52% or 53%, whatever it turns out to be, is nothing to crow about given the long-term trends toward freedom and the overwhelming support for marriage equality among younger voters.

If I were a same-sex marriage opponent, I would not be happy with last night’s results, I would be TERRIFIED.

are you trying to incite race problems?

Marriage was SAVED in Maine.

Let us take this reprieve and move forward making Maine a good place to raise a moral and ethical family.

Don’t you LOVE the way that the people who made this video didn’t even have a picture of a black family to use in their propaganda?

They don’t even realise how patronising, stupid and unthinkingly racist they are.

steerpike66 January 23, 2010 at 11:58 am

Hey African American guys!

You know those white people who keep on opposing affirmative action and who have locked up a whole generation of your young men for minor drug offences? The racists who make monkey jokes about the President?

Well, now they need YOUR HELP to overturn civil rights! So don’t forget to support white racist Republican trash in their war against gay people and their families.
